I can’t stand it when I’m running late, am standing in front of my closet (which is full of clothes) and have NOTHING to wear. Does this ever happen to you?
Its like no matter what I pull out, I either hate it or have already worn it.
Sure I have an extensive wardrobe and dress people for a living, but I am human!
I literally ripped through EVERYTHING like a Tasmanian Devil and when the dust settled my clothes room looked like a bomb hit it. It took ever fiber of my being not to throw it all away and start from scratch. UGH!!!
Here’s what prompted this post… just the other evening I was getting ready for an event and after much debate I finally settled on wearing my low crotch jeans, navy blue and white crocodile high-top sneakers with my FAVORITE Lagerfeld double collar trim navy fitted shirt and navy blazer… now that I think about it, that’s a whole lotta navy. LOL!!!
So I pulled everything out but couldn’t find the shirt. WHAT!!!
I went through my drawers, the laundry basket, checked the floor of my closet and even went through my luggage. It was gone… disappeared, vanished, and I had no idea where it was.
Unfortunately I couldn’t spend any more time searching because my car was waiting downstairs and I was already 20 minutes late. Ugh… so you know I was beyond disappointed about having to wear a different shirt.
So I make it to the event, grab a cocktail, shake hands with the important peeps, pose for a few pics and make the mad dash for the car so I can get home to finish my search. Yes, I was obsessed! I couldn’t get the mystery of my missing shirt out of my head. Where could it be? Did I really lose it? Did I leave it somewhere?
SIDEBAR: While I do shop for a living, I rarely shop for myself. But when I do, I usually pick up something as I’m shopping for my clients. I think its better to accrue my wardrobe, hand selecting each piece for its uniqueness, fit, style and color, as opposed to occasion shopping. i.e., last minute shopping for an event. That’s never a good thing! When you’re on crunch time, you settle versus finding something you absolove and store it until you need it.
I felt as though I lost my best friend. The missing blue shirt was like no other; it had a light blue panel on the collar, light blue inner cuffs… it fit me like a GLOVE. AND it was expensive, so you know I was NOT happy about losing it.
Exhausted from my extensive search, I turned in for the night with the hopes it would magically appear in the morning.
I know… wishful thinking! Then in the middle of the night I woke up and remembered EXACTLY where I left it… it was at my friend’s house! So crazy me texted my friend to see if it was really there. Yeah it was LATE BUT I NEEDED TO KNOW! When replied back with a YES I was so HAPPY I started to jump up and down in bed! Yay!
I know we shouldn’t develop attachments to our clothing but when you find something you ABSOLOVE its hard not too. Besides needing to be more responsible, I SHUT UP AND learned A HUGE LESSON, next time BUY TWO!
This way if one goes missing or gets damaged, I have a back up. A Special thanks Mark for reuniting me with my favorite shirt. LOL!!!
Now SHUT UP AND hang it somewhere SAFE!
